“Petrification” at the Honfleur Gallery, Washington DC

This weekend I traveled south to Washington DC to install my sculpture “Petrification” at the Sculpture NOW 2013 exhibit, sponsored by the Washington Sculpture Group. The exhibit, curated by Florcy Morisset of Philadelphia’s Vivant Art Collection, is at the Honfleur Gallery until April 12.

It’s a wonderful varied exhibit of works by artists from the DC area and beyond (New York, Philadelphia, and southern Virginia.)

It’s the third time I’ve installed “Petrification”. This time I had more space, about seven feet, and I enjoyed enlarging the formation and using more pieces.

The First Friday reception at the gallery, in the Anacostia section of Washington DC was packed with artists, art-lovers, and supporters from the neighborhood. I enjoyed talking to the other sculptors about their process.

Many onlookers had no idea that my piece was made of glass and steel wool.
